THREE U.S. MILITARY BAYONETS FOR 1903 SPRINGFIELD
RIFLES. 1) A very early production Model 1905 bayonet w/ a 16" bright Fullered blade. Blade is marked on left Ricasso w/ "SA, flaming bomb, 1907". Marked on right ricasso w/ "US" & s#. Walnut grips show correct coarse machine marks. Birdshead pommel. Hilt & part of the blade ricasso are blue. Canvas covered scabbard w/ brown leather tip. Scabbard equipped w/ Model 1910 belt hook. CONDITION: bayonet is very good overall condition. Blade has been lightly sharpened & has spots of peppery oxidation. Grips have light wear & handling marks. Blued areas have thinning & wear. Canvas scabbard & tip have moderate wear, scuffing & staining. Stitching is tight. 2) Model 1905 bayonet w/ 16" Fullered blade. Blade is marked on left Ricasso w/ "SA, flaming bomb, 1918". Right ricasso marked "US" & s#. Walnut grips show coarse machining marks. Birdshead pommel. Bayonet has black parkerized finish on both blade & handle. Canvas scabbard w/ brown leather tip & Model 1910 belt hook. CONDITION: bayonet has been lightly sharpened prior to parkerization of which approx. 80% remains. Grips have light wear & staining. Canvas & leather have staining & light wear w/ tight stitching. Leather scabbard liner has become detached & is no longer secured by it's steel rivet. 3) U.S. Model 1942 w/ 16" Fullered blade. Blade is marked on left Ricasso "AFH, flaming bomb, US 1942". Ribbed plastic grips. Metal parts have original dark parkerizing. Blade is unsharpened. Green plastic scabbard w/ metal throat & 1910 belt hook. Throat is marked "USN MK I". CONDITION: bayonet parts retain 90% of parkerized finish w/ light wear & thinning. Grips have light wear & scattered handling marks. Scabbard has light wear. Throat has peppery oxidation. (02-19601-3/RW). $400-600.
