TOWER MARKED 3RD MODEL BROWN BESS CONVERTED TO

PERCUSSION. Cal. 75. NSN. Bbl. 39 1/2" w/ Birmingham proofs at breech end. Bbls. converted to percussion w/ drum & nipple. Rnd. bodied lock is deeply stamped “TOWER” on tail & has crowned “GR” cypher at center. A flat faced percussion hammer has been fitted. Walnut stock of early 3rd model styling has deep “hand rail” comb & raised platform around bbl. tang. Stock is brass mounted w/ typical late style furniture & no wrist escutcheon is present. Stock extends to w/ in 5" of muzzle, has brass cap & is pinned to bbl. A steel ramrod is held by 2 flared brass pipes & matching thimble. CONDITION: bbl. & lock plate are relatively smooth chocolate brown patina w/ some deep pitting at breech end of bbl. Stock has attractive hand worn smooth finish w/ numerous marks, dings & dents. Brass w/ cleaned highlights is nicely toned. Brown, pitted bore. Lock is operable. (01-19479/MGM). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
