These reins were made over 100 years ago and were made out of horsehide.
The reason that they used horsehide back then is because horsehide is thinner and easier to use than cowhide. Cowhide has to be split.
The rosettes on the sides of the headstall are old silver coins dated 1908 and 1916.
If you are a collector of old western memorabilia, this would be a great addition to your collection.
