Texas Hope Saddle Attributed to Confederate General John Bell Hood. This Saddle features a fast rising pommel (with horn) covered in rawhide with a leather tooled rosette and silver medallion on top, a rawhide covered cantle, (seat, back housing, fender flaps, pommel, and bell shaped stirrups all tooled with a filigree floral design), and Silver stud medallions throughout. Manufacturing Tag under the seat by & #34;Rice & amp; Childress Saddlers San Antonio, Texas& #34;. This saddle is from the civil war through the Indian War era and because of its condition was more than likely never worn into battle, but is a true period Texas Hope saddle.
Note: Wood Saddle tree is Not Included with Sale.
Lacking satisfactory provenance we are unable to endorse the Hood attribution and cannot prove that it indeed belonged to John Bell Hood, but this is a period saddle used by Confederate officers.

The leather on this saddle is still supple & amp; pliable and in excellent shape. A small tear to the rawhide under the pommel horn and some light oxidation to the round top nail heads on the underside. Overall in excellent condition for its age.
