And now for something completely different … Take your kids or grandkids on a HOUSTON COYOTE CALLING HUNT with Chapter member Riecke Baumann has teamed up with Lost Horizons’ James Jeffrey (also new SCI Houston BOD member) to offer you a fun family outing right here in Houston. Did you know you could observe coyotes, deer, pigs, bobcats, and even cougars (honest) in addition to varmints like oppossum, racoons and other varmints in Houston? Here’s the plan: Riecke and James will take you out on on Polaris vehicles (kids drive) and pickups starting about 2PM, covering over 3000 acres (not giving away exactly where) where you’ll bait pig traps and corn the place up to attract varmints. Then its off to Willie’s for hamburgers, after which you’ll return to search for varmints with top-of-the-line starlight and thermo scopes, stopping occasionally to call for coyotes (which usually respond within 20 seconds!). You decide the group size, with dates to be determined by weather (best when cool) and Reicke and James’ availability.
