SN: 1596. Thames Arms Company was a short-lived American firearm manufacturer based in Norwich, Connecticut, operating from 1900 to 1910. Vintage top break double action only hammerless revolver features 5 shot cylinder, fixed sights, 3" ribbed barrel, nickel finish, blued triggerguard, black composition grips with hunting horn motifs. Bore is bright with most rifling intact, some scattered light pitting. Nickel finish is mostly all there with handling wear, scattered brown patina, triggerguard finish turning brown, grips are very good. Action is smooth, matching serial number on grip frame, inside left grip panel, underside of topstrap, barrel latch, cylinder and ejector star. Comes in vintage Lakota (Sioux) beaded, fringed holster with plus signs, diamond and triangles designs, sharply defined and set against a solid, large background of light blue seed glass beads, it is highly characteristic of Lakota work. They favored expansive backgrounds that made these red, black, white, and green geometric shapes vividly contrast. Repeating plus or cross shapes in Plains beadwork symbolize the four cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) and the sacred Hoop of Life. Triangles often represent tents, tepees, or protective arrowheads, while diamond clusters commonly denote the body of a turtle or cosmic balance and eternal strength. Constructed on brain-tanned buckskin, sinew-sewn. Shows age, beadwork totally intact.
