Reproduction Heavy Barrel-Large Bore Percussion Plains or Sporting Rifle, by Thompson Center Arms, #K15941, .50 cal., blued 29'' heavy octagonal barrel with large grooved-block front, fixed rear and screw-elevating peep tang sights, is marked with the maker's name, address and caliber on right angled flat, and ser. no. on left; case hardened flat lockplate and hammer are floral engraved; brass furniture includes scrolled finger-rest trigger guard, patchbox opening to a trap for spare nipple and patches, crescent buttplate, two oval barrel wedge escutcheons, nosecap, and 2 ferrules retaining the brass-tipped hardwood ramrod; varnished walnut halfstock has raised aprons on either side of lock and a gracefully carved cheekpiece on left. Double set triggers. Condition is very good, the barrel retaining 70% blue with scattered rust spots, the lock and hammer showing bright case colors, the brass moderately toned. Stock is sound and smooth with a few handling marks, all showing poor storage and in need of thorough and sympathetic cleaning. Action is crisp; bore is brilliant with scattered light rust and sharp rifling. Est.: $150-$250. (No FFL Required)
