Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, barrel extension, locking block, bolt, cocking piece, manual safety, magazine catch, magazine safety, and both grip panels. No import marks. Includes a period brown leather clamshell holster with label on the inside of the lid and spare magazine. Also includes a hand written note that reads, “This is a Japanese Type 14 nambu pistol caliber 8MM. Made in Kokura, Japan in August of 1928 Serial# 858 James C. Anderson got this pistol from a Japanese Army weapons depot in Peking, China in November, 1945. It was brand new and never fired.” Pistol retains approximately 85% of its original blued finish showing light holster wear, some heavy dings on the non-matching trigger guard, bright drag line on the frame from the safety, and scrapes on the barrel. The straw colored parts are nearly void of finish. The action is mechanically sound, the bore is bright with semi-worn rifling & light scattered pitting, and the matching wood grips are good to very good with wear.
Condition is Good.
