U.A.M. (United American Mechanics) Fraternal Sword, by Henderson Ames Co., an organization founded in the 1870's. The 27'' bright nickel-plated blade is etched engraved with floral decorations, knight head, and military motifs, and panel engraved with the name ''Jos.H. Roseman'', on other side ''U.A.M.''. Ricasso area is maker marked by ''The Henderson Ames Co. Kalamazoo, Mich'', ca. 1890's-1910. Decorated high relief crossguard and langet with ''V.F.E.P.'' stamped inside a banner. Grip is black-colored wood and smooth. Pommel is rounded and has an American eagle on top with a chain going down to the crossguard. Scabbard has cast fittings at the tip, center and top with rings for wear, faintly etched engraved with ''U.A.M.'' Condition is good with the blade being mostly bright, a few scattered rust specks, and fingerprint stains. There is wear to the fittings and pommel finish. Scabbard has been stripped and wire brushed and shows some heavy rust pitting in the center. Est.: $100-$200.
