U.S. Army Colt Model 1917 Double Action Revolver, #121568, .45 ACP cal., 5-1/2" barrel, blue finish, smooth walnut grips, blade front sight, standard notched rear sight, with lanyard ring. Mfg'd 1918. Butt of the gun has standard U.S. Army markings and serial number. Left side of frame, in front of the trigger is marked "(eagle head)/S20". Bottom of the barrel is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Metal surfaces rate in fine condition and retain approx. 93%-94% factory blue. There are intermittent light scratches on the barrel and cylinder. Muzzle and edges of the trigger guard show light wear. Backstrap shows some thinning and mild patina. Factory lettering is crisp. Grips are very good, left grip with more frequent shallow surface dents and handling marks, right grip shows less handling wear. Both have a number written on the back (214915), that does not match any numbers on the revolver. Action cycles smoothly and locks up securely. Bore appears excellent and is bright with well-defined rifling. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R/PPT)
