U.S. M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle, by Springfield Armory, #645129, 24'' barrel, parkerized finish, walnut stock, blade front sight with protective ears marked ''NM.062'', and National Match style hooded aperture adjustable rear sight marked ''NM''. Marked on receiver tang ''U.S.RIFLE CAL..30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY''. ''SA'' stamp on trigger housing, hammer, operating rod, barrel and bolt. Barrel dated ''S-A-5-46''. Large ''P'' firing proof on underside of wrist. Early style elevation and windage knobs with locking bar are fitted. Additional cartouches which appear to have been recently added are a Defense Department stamp on left side wrist and an ''S.A.A.'' stamp on right side buttstock. Inside of stock has been re-shaped with a chisel and epoxy bedding material added. Condition overall is very good with approx. 95% finish remaining on metal surfaces, with thinning on the bolt lugs from use. Front handguard has several cracks behind the stacking swivel screw, and stock shows a few old chips at the buttplate, otherwise very good with added finish over sanded wood. Action is smooth, bore is very good with sharp rifling. Includes a new condition U.S. M1907 style sling stamped ''TURNER SADDLERY'' and ''NM''.
