U.S. M1832 HEAVY ARTILLERY SWORD WITH M1836 BELT &

BUCKLE. Overall length: 27 7/8". Blade length: 19 1/4". Plain blade with a single 10 1/8" narrow fuller and a double 3 1/4" narrow fuller. The ricasso is stamped, "US J.H 1856" on 1 side and "AMES MFG CO CHICOPEE " on the other side. Solid brass hilt stamped "G.H" on one side of the handguard and "R.H.K.W." on the other side of the handguard. Globular pommel with American eagle on both sides. Fish scale grip with 3 iron rivets. Brass mounted leather scabbard with "ADK" inspector's marks at the tip. This sword includes its original white buff leather belt with integral white buff leather frog. The buckle is the US M1836, 2 piece interlocking "U S" type. CONDITION: blade is quite nice with some original factory polish remaining. There is a bit of staining concentrated near the ricasso. Hilt shows overall light wear. Scabbard is strong with just a bit of flexing/flaking. Mounts are solid. Belt, as expected, is a bit dirty but remains in solid condition with no damage. Buckle shows a deep mustard patina. (02-17723/BF). $2,400-3,000.
