Cal. 38 Spl. S# 153-55989. Bbl. 4" ribbed with serrated blade and no "warning marks"; frame notched rear sight. Mfg. 1977 as Model SDA84L with L designating lanyard loop (none fitted); butt area has notable space within serial number for installation of a loop allowing "153-" to be at the front half of the unusual square butt and "55989" at the rear half. Right front of cylinder frame stamped "U.S." before being blued; standard checkered walnut service grips with all silver eagle medallions. August 1978 issue of American Rifleman magazine stated that 6,500 with lanyard loops were procured for Army Armament Material Development and Readiness Command. Sold via Ruger benefit auction in February of 2013. Ruger website states shipped 1978 as Model 01517 and that caliber is 38 Special +P. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original red and black 1 piece box with serial number on end and top by black marker (NOT Sharpie style). Shipping sleeve with ink pen and black marker serial numbers over each other on 1 end plus auction label over another white label that has "POLICE SERVICE" and "LEGAL LIBRARY" showing through on other end. Includes US Military foil that was around revolver within company box, plus foil that contained the red / black box within the shipper; added label to foil with marker applied serial number. Outer UPS box has date and CO address of receiving FFL holder. Manual dated 1/86 plus stamped in red ink as "out of production". CONDITION: all aspects are near excellent appearing new and unfired.
