U.S. Model 1847 Springfield Cavalry Musketoon dated 1858, in .69 caliber smooth bore which remains in N.R.A. good to very good condition with saddle ring bar and ring retained. The gun has gone to a patinafinish with light to moderate pitting and erosion. A very good eagle and markings on the lock. J.W.P. carved in the left buttstock and IIIA and an A on the right. There is a “5” neatly engraved on top of therear band, the nipple has been replaced and the action is good. Two nails have been added to secure a piece of wood behind the hammer during use. There is a good patina on the brass and original swivel ramrod. Est.: $1,750-$3,500. (Antique).
