MILITARY STYLE BOLT ACTION SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 7.65 x 53 Mauser. Assembly number 7 (located at bottom forward end of receiver). This number appears on buttstock, handguard, trigger guard & bbl. band. This unusual & high quality rifle is built on a sm. ring Czech CZ action. Unusually, placed on bottom of forearm is a silver colored escutcheon approx. 1" long nicely engraved w/ initials which appear "MBM". Consignor states, "Rifle was likely created at CZ BRNO Works as a presentation gift for someone involved in the "Modelo 1932" contract for Peru and those initials "MBM" likely those of the recipient". The receiver ring has a matted finish & circular CZ logo at top. It also has a faintly visible "kal8" at rear edge of receiver ring. Left receiver rail marked "Cs. ZBROJOVKA AKC. SPOL. V BRNE". Receiver additionally marked on bottom behind recoil lug w/ electro pencil "7.65" "B1". 18 1/2" Bbl. has sporting type taper from rear sight base forward. Bright bolt has turned down handle w/ flattened checkered knob. Bolt marked underneath w/ encircled "Z" and "L3", a marking found on many Peruvian Modelo 1932 short rifles. Cocking piece marked w/ encircled "Z". Safety & cocking piece also have circle "Z" marks. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,400m. Rear sight base screw is not present. Ramp front sight w/ lightning cuts & inverted V military type blade. Steel trigger guard made w/out locking screws has lightning cut in front of mag. Trigger guard bow is lightened VZ.33 configuration. Attractive European walnut stock & handguard. Stock is marked underneath chamber area w/ Roman numeral that appears "XIII" & penciled European style "7". Stock has blue steel sporting type forend tip retained by screw. Flat smooth bbl. band retained by spring w/ 1 1/4" swivel bow. Stock has grasping grooves. Recoil bolt has recessed head for bolt take down. Stock has 2 screw military type swivel base w/ rotating swivel, as on Modelo 1932/VZ.33, close behind pistol grip. Pressed steel Modelo 1932 buttplate w/ 7 horizontal grooves. Buttplate has faint scratched "9842" at top. Handguard extends from receiver ring through bbl. band. 5/8" leather carry strap permanently stitched to swivels. CONDITION: overall fine, original stock & handguard have light wear & handling marks throughout. Notable chip in left side of forend near tip. Bbl. retains 90% original blue finish w/ very light wear & tiny scattered handling marks. Lightly worn bore. Bore has lightly frosted appearance w/ light wear to lands & has bulge approx. 1/2" back from muzzle in area of front sight. PROVENANCE: Dr. Fred Novy Collection. (22-1111/RW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
