UNIQUE LUNCHBOX ASSEMBLED NATIONAL ARMS NO2
SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 2 1/2" CALIBER 41 RIMFIRE MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1865-70. This unique pistol was assembled by a probable employee by taking parts home and finishing or assembling off site. Unmarked barrel with small German silver front sight and brass unadorned or embellished frame with birds head grips and 2 piece walnut grips. Pistol is void of any markings or numbers. Most obviously a National No 2 pistol but with a small casting flaw behind the spur trigger. This flaw could explain the ability to acquire the frame and parts for at home non-factory assembly. A noted Derringer expert & Dealer believes this to be an experimental safety feature that is unknown and is also unknown as to how it operates. CONDITION, Very good with a wonderful uncleaned deep patina finish of the brass frame. The barrel appears to have been period browned. The bore is dark with visible rifling the action operates properly. The casting flaw to the rear of the trigger is loosely soldered. The two piece grips are period affixed with a wood screw. ANTQIUE
