US MARKED BERETTA MODEL 92S SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.

Cal. 9mm Parabellum (9mm Luger). S# B47817Z. Bbl. 4.9" having "PB" on locking portion plus proof on right front normally covered by slide. Mfg. 1980 w/ AF date code on trigger guard. Right side of slide has stamped Berben import mark as Beretta's first U.S. importer followed by more well known importer, Garcia. Right side of dust cover has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" appearing laser engraved being bright alloy colored as compared to stamped S# on opposite side. Left side of slide under Beretta logo has "U.S. ARMY TEST WEAPON" appearing laser engraved rather than stamped; same lettering as property mark. Early configured right handed slide mounted safety / decocker with button topped lever rather than familiar elongated pad of later models; trial specifications were for ambidextrous safety / decocker. Base of backstrap has lanyard loop plus left side mag. release of European style; U.S. military pistols required triggerguard proximity mag. release. Smooth walnut grips w/ deeply inlaid 7/8" diameter gold colored U.S. Army medallions. Date of manufacture, pistol configuration, grip medallions & appearance of engraved markings elude to spurious heritage. MAGS: 2 factory 15 rd. TOTAL; flat steel base w/ dent on lip and cast alloy base. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: green canvas shoulder holster affixed with elasticized blue retaining strap & multicolored felt liner. CONDITION: very good overall appearance of original finish w/ light high edge wear mainly on slide. Numerous light grip marks appearing as dents rather than scratches. Near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: Estate collection of Fred Inganamort. (22-1770/NW). CURIO. MODERN. $1,000-2,000.
