US MARKED STEVENS MODEL 520-30 RIOT PUMP SHOTGUN.

Cal. 12 ga., 2 3/4". S# 48929. Introduced in 1904, the Model 520-30 was discontinued in 1932. In 1942 the government purchased all available guns from Stevens. The 520-30 tooling was still available and operable. The U.S. Ordnance Department standardized the M520-30 and placed orders for new guns. A total of 35,306 were purchased by the government during WWII including trench, riot and training versions. Bbl. 20" cylinder bore with steel bead. Square stern action features a top tang sliding safety. Left side of barrel and receiver have "P" inspection mark over flaming bomb. "US" is stamped above trigger guard. Trigger guard is stamped "S" on forward sloping portion with larger "M" on front part of bow. Plain small round forearm and pistol grip walnut stock with original buttplate. CONDITION: metal retains over 80% military finish showing slide and carry wear with spots of freckling. Sanded wood has an oiled appearance showing scratches and marks. Left ear of stock has a small crack. Very good bright bore. (22-4148/DS). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
