PERCUSSION. Cal. 70. NSN. Approx. 5,000 of these muskets were made by Evans. Bbl. 42 1/4", stamped "L.S", "US" & "P" at rear. Original flintlock stamped "W. L. EVENS" (Stamp maker's mistake) & "V. FORGE". There is no eagle stamp. The Date 1826 & "US" are stamped behind cock. American walnut stock is iron mounted & attaches to bbl. w/ 3 spring retained bands. There are no visible markings in wood. Sling loops are present as is trumpet head ramrod. CONDITION: metal cleaned to bright pewter gray over scattered pitting. Wood w/ old refinish & scraped surfaces. Stock appears sound w/ no noted cracks or losses. Lock is operable. Pitted bore. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19754/MGM).
