"US" Marked Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine, #838374, .30 W.C.F. (.30-30) cal., 20" round barrel marked with maker's name, address and 1894 patent date, "Nickel Steel Barrel/Especially for Smokeless Powder" and caliber at left, has pinned-blade front and folding-leaf rear sights, full-length mag. tube below; receiver is marked "US" and "(flaming bomb)" at top of breech and the model, maker's name and trade mark pat. off. at top tang, has loop operating lever and left-side saddle ring/stud; oil-stained forend has single band, matching buttstock with carbine buttplate. Mfg'd 1919. Condition is very good retaining approx. 90% thinning barrel and mag tube reblued finish, traces of original blue on receiver and buttplate, else smooth gunmetal gray/brown. Stocks are sound and smooth with occasional shallow marks (forend with quarter-inch grain crack at left-rear), have nice color and finish. Action is crisp, bore is brilliant with sharp rifling.
