The US Model 1832 General Officer& #39;s Chapeau, also known as the & #34;cocked hat,& #34; is a distinctive style of military headgear that was worn by American generals during the 19th century. The chapeau is made of black beaver fur or felt and features a low, circular crown with a wide brim that is turned up on three sides. The chapeau is adorned with a black silk cockade, a gold bullion tassel, and a black ostrich feather plume that is attached to the left side of the hat. The front of the hat features a gold bullion eagle insignia with the letters & #34;USA& #34; on a shield, which is pinned to the front of the cockade. The US Model 1832 General Officer& #39;s Chapeau was first introduced in 1832 and was worn by American generals during the Mexican-American War, the American Civil War, and other conflicts in the 19th century.
