RIFLE W/ REPLICA M84 SCOPE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3352585. Bbl. 24". Throat gauges 2.0. Muzzle gauges 1.0. Barrel marked S-A-8-52 on the right side and marked faintly underneath in electro pencil ORION 8/5 Z583. Barrel marked on top under handguard with correct drawing number D7312555 and A174A with faint "crossed cannons. Late type aperture rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver, barrel, bolt,op-rod, trigger housing and hammer marked SA. Cross slot gas cylinder lock screw. Hi-hump gas cylinder lock. Milled trigger guard. Walnut stock set. Buttstock marked on left side over trigger guard with "crossed cannons". Marked under grip with encircled "P". Belly of buttstock has two screw holes from cheek pad installation. Green web sling. Original scope base is fitted with a reproduction scope mount. The mount has a more coarse finish than the originals and has a small encircled "M" on the left side. The cap screws require a 5/64" wrench. The thumb knob is welded but does have 50 clicks. The blued steel M84 scope has a non tapered post and cross hair. The features of the scope appear correct including the rounded forward edge of the sliding sunshade, the "L" and the"R" are placed correctly and the nameplate has white lettering without borders and a S# of 10501. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: includes copy of FM 23-10 U.S. RIFLE CALIBER .30 M1903. Dated 1943. Green canvas padded case marked "Case individual parachutist 1950". Cleaning kit and plastic oiler in butt. CONDITION: Stock set has an early "arsenal rework" finish with a slight loss of wood in inletted areas. Buttstock has had a small amount of wood removed between stock and receiver. Metal retains a large degree of "arsenal rework" parkerization. Optics appear clear and serviceable. Very good shiny bore. (23-918/RW). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
