US SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 TRAPDOOR SPORTERIZED.

SINGLE SHOT RIFLE
Cal. 45-70. S# 524440. Bbl. 28 1/4" Rifle converted to sporter configuration resembling an officers model Springfield. Shortened barrel has a bead front sight. no rear sight is fitted. The rifle is equipped with a a Burris 2x-7x long eye relief hand gun scope mounted ahead of the receiver on a weaver base. The scope has a duplex reticle and a dull silver colored finish. The breechblock has faint case colors and is dated 1884. Lockplate has "US" "SPRINGFIELD" and"eagle". Shortened Walnut stock has silver colored nose cap. Bottom of barrel fitted with milled steel rib w/ two thimbles. Hardwood wiping rod. Stock has boxed "SWP 1885" marking. CONDITION: Refinished stock w/ moderate wear dents and scratches. Metal has traces of original finish with wear handling marks and light oxidation. Scope has light wear. Optics appear clear and servicable. Good shiny bore w/ sharp lands.
