SHOTGUN W/ TOP NOTCH FLUSH GOLD INLAY & BULINO WORK BY WINSTON CHURCHILL & STOCKS BY JERRY FISHER. Cal. 20 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 58946V70. Vintage 1970 gun w/ 26 1/2" bbls. w/ narrow ventilated rib, marked for Mod. & Full, have all correct Browning markings on top bbl. Lightweight action w/ reshaped & gold plated single selective trigger has been nicely shaped, polished & rust blued. Action engraved w/ exceptional finely detailed vignettes of gold inlaid game birds on sides w/ ruffed grouse in various poses on right side in background of pine boughs. Right side depicts a trio of woodcock, 2 in flight & 1 on the ground, in background of foliage. This truly fine work is by the revered Winston Churchill of southern Vermont. His signature is on bottom right side of trigger. A banner on top lever is engraved "No. 1". S# is on trigger guard tang. Very finely marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock (consignor states work is by Jerry Fisher) measures 14" over pigskin leather covered pad. Side panels have nicely detailed drop points. Very well cut point pattern checkering w/ mullered borders is at grip & a vacant gold oval is on toeline. Schnabled 1 piece forend matches well. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: Bore diameter: O .621 U .620. Restriction: O .015 (MOD) U .005 (IC). STOCK: LOP: 14". DAC: 1 1/2+". DAH: 2 9/16". Cast: 5/8" off. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 4 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in high quality oak & leather case w/ stitched leather corners. Interior is lined in reddish suede. Bottom compartment is French fitted for action & bbls. & there are oak tops to section dividers. Case contains brass & ebony 2 piece cleaning rod w/ mops & brushes, 2 ebony turnscrews, & 1 brass oil bottle (also French fitted). CONDITION: exceptionally fine, appears to have seen little or no use since finishing w/ only a few scattered minor handling marks in all fine custom finishes. Bores are excellent, mechanically fine. Case has a number of rubs & scrapes in exterior leather, straps & handle are good, interior is excellent w/ a few rubs. A lovely lightweight field gun by 2 masters of their trades.
