TRIGGER DOUBLE TRAP OR PIGEON GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 22942 (circa 1916). The 30" bbls. fitted with slightly raised matted rib are marked "Krupp Fluid Steel Made By" "A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA" on tops. There are 2" triangles of shaded acanthus scroll at breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped with gauge, serial number, "X" & Fox proof. Krupp Steel markings are on bottoms of bbls. Case hardened Fox action is not fitted with safety, but is fitted with Fox Kautzky single selective trigger. Action is engraved in normal "X" grade style with near full coverage shaded acanthus. This treatment surrounds oval vignettes of game on sides; with a pair of ducks on left & quail on right, both under "Ansley H. Fox". Bottom of action portrays usual walking fox in oval scene. Trigger guard has serial number on tang. Pistol grip stock of nicely veined & lightly figured European walnut measures 15 1/4" over brown leather covered pad. Side panels are checkered & grip checkering has ribbons through pattern. Pistol grip is not capped, but has bottom of wood in slight Ogee shape. Matching long tapered splinter ejector forend with schnabled horn tip has Fox's Deeley type release. Patent dates are on iron. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .727", L .733". Restriction: R .018" (MOD), L .038" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .030", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/4". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 15 1/4". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 14 oz. CONDITION: very fine as partially refurbished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack, engraving remains sharp & clear. Action retains 40-50% original case hardening color turning to gray around bottom, thinning on fences. Trigger guard is mostly gray with traces of original blue. Newly made buttstock of exceptional quality retains nearly all of its original finish, checkering with little wear. Original wood of forend shows matching refinish over some light marks, checkering is competently recut. Bores are bright & shiny without any noted problems. Action is tight. Mechanically fine.
