VERY DESIRABLE PORTUGUESE MODEL 1941 BOLT ACTION

SHORT RIFLE WITH WWII GERMAN ARMY ACCEPTANCE MARKS. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# H12704. All visible numbers match. Bbl. 23 5/8". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight. Blade is not present in front sight base. Sight base has reproduction protective hood. These rifles were mfg. by Mauser at Oberndorf for the Portuguese government & were an updated version of the Model 1937-A. Not all were delivered to Portugal. In 1944 Arms exports from Germany were halted & the undelivered rifles were then issued to the German Army w/ German markings added. Receiver ring is marked on top w/ Portuguese crest "1941" and German eagle "135". Left side of receiver ring & bbl. have German eagle proof. Left receiver rail marked "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBENDORF A.N.". Bbl. is marked over chamber "DO336 & 3 eagle 35". Bayonet bar & cleaning rod are present. All milled furniture except for cup type buttplate marked "brg" eagle "497". Walnut stock set w/ side sling & steel takedown hole. Buttstock is marked on left side w/ manufacturer's mark resembling a crest & "1941" date. Right side is marked w/ eagle "135". Stock marked at belly with S# "H12704", eagle "135" & "H" indicating German Army issue. Reproduction brown leather sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching original bayonet scabbard & frog. Unsharpened bayonet has 10" fullered blade. Bayonet is marked w/ S# on crossguard & 2 eagle "883"s. Smooth walnut grips; steel scabbard w/ unmarked leather frog. Bayonet & scabbard retain 70% original blue finish w/ thinning & light wear. Frog has tight stitching w/ light wear & staining. CONDITION: original finish stock set has added finish w/ wear, scratches & handling marks throughout. Metal retains 60% original thinning blue w/ light wear. Receiver ring has notably darker appearance but crisp crest. Very good shiny bore. (23-35/RW). CURIO. $1,100-1,400.
