VERY EARLY BROWNING GRADE 2 SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN

WITH CUSTOM STOCKS & 20 GAUGE BRILEY TUBES. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 2004 (1932). Bbls. 30" fitted with interchangeable choke tubes also have slightly raised ventilated rib, rear portion marked "Browning Superposed". "MADE IN BELGIUM", patent numbers and FN info are on right side of top bbl. Left is marked "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY OGDEN UTAH" and "12 Ga. Special Steel". Coin finished superposed action is fitted with miller single selective trigger, selector is in safety button. Action is engraved with near full coverage rose and scroll on bottom; on sides, a pair of pigeons fly through a field of scroll. After the war; guns of this pattern become the "pigeon" grade. Top fence is deep relief carved with acorns and oak leaves. No engraver's signature is found. Custom pistol grip buttstock of nicely figured American walnut measures 13 7/8" over black "Old English" pad. Sidepanels are checkered and point pattern checkering is on grip. Matching slightly flared beavertail forend has usual Browning latch. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 1 11/16". DAC: 1 1/4+". LOP: 13 7/8". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 14 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes with tan Hartman case marked "Browning" which is lined in faun faux fur and contains 20 ga. Briley tubeset with interchangable choketubes, 4 chokes for 12 ga. bbls. (2 in gun for total of 6) and rapid installation tool. CONDITION: good as refurbished. Bbls. with nearly all of an old reblack Action cleaned to coin finish. Engraving remains good. Custom stocks retain nearly all of their original varnish with some handling and assembly marks. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Case shows considerable wear and some marks. Interior cloth shows soiling. (22-2211/MGM). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
