XE SXS SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 22945 (1916). The 30" bbls. are fitted w/ slightly raised tapered & matted game rib holding 2 white beads. Tops of bbls. are marked "Krupp Fluid Steel" made by "A. H. Fox Gun. Co. Phila PA". There are 2" triangles of lg. shaded scrolling acanthus at breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ grade, gauge, S# & fox proof. Sides of flats & cocking slide are Damascened. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped "Fluid Steel Krupp En". Case hardened boxlock type Fox action w/ rotary bolting system has water table stamped w/ S# & "X". Action also features automatic safety ("SAFE" engraved). Stock strengthening rebates at rear of action & nickel plated dbl. triggers. Action is engraved in usual XE style w/ near full coverage lg. scrolling acanthus in shaded background w/ in line borders. This attractive work surrounds oval vignettes of game birds on sides w/ 2 ducks on left & a pair of quail on right. Both scenes are engraved "ANSLEY H FOX" at tops. Bottom of action is engraved w/ oval vignette of a fox in open meadow w/ mountains in background. Trigger plate has more shaded acanthus matching that found on blued trigger guard bow which also has vacant shield. S# is on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock made from an very attractive piece of well marbled & somewhat burl figured Circassian walnut. Measures 14 1/8" over Silver type pad. Side panels are checkered & modified point pattern checking at grip has uncheckered ribbons through pattern. Matching long & thin splinter ejector forend has inlet schnabeled ebony tip & Deely type release. Fox ejector patent dates are on iron. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: BORE DIAMETER: Right .729", Left .729". RESTRICTION: Right .011" (IC), Left .020" (Mod). Min. WALL THICKNESS: Right .027", Left .026", STOCK: LOP: 14 1/8". DAC: 1 11/16". DAH: 2 13/16". Cast: 0. WEIGHT: 7 lbs. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter w/ specifications stating shipped on June 3rd, 1916 to Huefano Trading Co. Notes proclaim "Extra Nice Gun". CONDITION: very fine. Bbls. retaining nearly all of what appears to be their original blue silvered on sharp edges & w/ couple areas w/ some touch up. Action retains over 85% original case hardening color. Fading & graying around bottom from normal hand wear. Color on thumb piece is considerably silvered. Trigger guard retains approx. 80% of its original bright blue. Stocks retain most of their original finish w/ some added oil & touch up w/ addition of newer pad. Checkering is very lightly worn. Bores are bright & shiny w/ no noticeable repairs or problems. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong, slightly out of time. An exceptional & attractive high grade Fox. (21-3917/MGM). CURIO. $7,000-12,000.
