JOHAN MICHELITSCH OF FERLACH WITH ZEISS SCOPE. Cal. 16 Ga., 2 1/2" / 7x65R / 22LR. S# 1583.55. The 25 5/8" bbl. set is in usual configuration with SxS shotgun over large caliber rifle with small caliber incorporated into rib. Matted rib is configured in Churchhill style with portion in front of 1 standing notch rear sight slimmed. Portion around silver bead front sight broadens. Top of right shotgun bbl. is engraved "Joh. Michelitsch" partially obscured by soldered on claw bases. Top of right bbl. is marked with importer's info and "Ferlach-Austria". Bottoms of bbls. are stamped with 1955 Ferlach nitro proofs for 16 Ga., 2 1/2" chambers and 7x65 Rifle cartrdige. Maker's number "41" (Johan Michelitsch) is also stamped on bottom bbl. Shotgun bbls. are of Bohler "blitz" steel, rifle is of Bohler "spezial". Coin finished sideplated blitz action features nonautomatic tang safety, bushed strikers, reinforcing bolsters and double triggers (both set). Rifle/shotgun selector is on left lockplate. Action is engraved with about 60% coverage very nicely cut shaded scroll within line and wiggle borders. Sideplates are semi relief game scene engraved with portrait of roaring stag in forest glade on left plate and a roebuck and doe in meadow on right. Lightly fiddle figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 3/8" over ribbed horn buttplate and features shadowline right hand cheekpiece and multipoint pattern checkering at grip. Hooked rosewood gripcap has inlet silver oval on bottom, relief cast in thistle motif with initials "R.D." on central circle. Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Vierling is fitted with Zeiss Diavari-Z rail scope with crosshair and three post reticle in claw mounts, rear with windage. MEASUREMENTS: SHOTGUN BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .669", L .670". Restriction: R .024" (MOD), L .025" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .027", L .026". STOCK: DAH: approx. 2 3/4". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 3/8". CAST: approx. 1/4" off. WEIGHT WITHOUT SCOPE: 8 lb. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: fine as lightly refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a best reblack. Action with coin finish lightly cleaned to an even pewter gray. Engraving remains sharp and clear. Stocks have well done oil refinish with a few light subsequent marks, checkering competently recut. All bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically fine. Scope is also fine with some minor rubs overall in exterior lacquer, but with two fairly deep dings on right side of objective bell. Optically clear. (22-4896/MGM).
