The guard terminates in a highly embellished quillon and the knuckle bow has an interesting beaded and oak lead motif. The bird's head pommel has swirls on either side and a similar beaded and oak leaf motif down the entire backstrap. Intricately carved and cross hatched certifiably antique ivory grip. Gilded brass mounted leather scabbard with exquisitely foliate embellished mounts featuring an enormous 14" drag with giant oak leaves. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray lightly mottled patina with light oxidation at the midpoint. Gilded highlights are about 70%. Blued field is about 60%. Etching is crisp and clear. Hilt retains nearly all of its original gilded finish. Grip is quite solid with a tiny chip at the top and a well executed crack repair at the base.
