WINTER WAR ERA FINNISH FIGHTING KNIVES & BAYONETS. 1) Puukko style knife w/ 4-1/4" non Fullered single edge blade. Alloy handle w/ stacked washer construction. Leather lined aluminum scabbard reputed by consignor to be made of Russian aircraft aluminum dated 1942. Hand embossed symbols include "reindeer" "Finnish hooked cross" "Maltese cross" & "signal flags. CONDITION: knife has grind marks. Handle has light wear & handling marks. Scabbard has partially missing belt loop w/ wear, discoloration & handling marks. 2) Puukko knife w/ 3-3/4" Fullered blade. Blade has Finnish language engraving on right side. Handle ferrule has decorative embossing. Balance of handle appears to be burl wood. Leather scabbard appears to be made from leg of reindeer w/ decorative embossing. CONDITION: knife has light wear, scratches & scattered spots of light oxidation on blade. Scabbard has moderate wear, scuffing & staining, & shows significant loss of reindeer hair. 3) Finnish Puukkopistin dress knife w/ 5-3/8" Fullered blade. Likely German made. Blade marked on left Ricasso w/ "balance scales". Rearward curve quillion. Metal backstrap ending in bird's head pommel. Course checkered wooden grips. Steel scabbard w/ leather belt loop. CONDITION: blade has been replated over fine pitting w/ wear & discoloration. Balance of metal has light wear & sm. handling marks. Grips have light wear & sm. missing chip on right grip. Blue steel scabbard w/ light wear & scratches. 4) Finnish dbl. edged fighting knife w/ 8" Fullered blade. It appears this was made from a bayonet blade. This knife was likely produced by a base workshop & shows reasonably good workmanship. Sheet metal crossguard. One piece hardwood dagger style grip w/ transverse hole for thong, secured by single rivet. Steel scabbard appears to be shortened bayonet scabbard. CONDITION: blade has varnish like coating w/ wear & light oxidation. Crossguard has turned over all patina. Grip has worn dark stained appearance. Steel scabbard has extensive oxidation & patina. 5) Finnish Model 1939 bayonet has 7-1/8" Fullered blade. Marked on left Ricasso "O.Y. VELJEKSET KULMALA A.B." Marked on right Ricasso w/ "SK.Y" indicating use by the Civil Guard. Straight crossguard w/ muzzle ring & forward swept quillion. Bird's head pommel. One piece smooth hardwood grip. Green colored leather scabbard marked "SK.Y" w/ metal tip & retaining strap. CONDITION: blade has scattered spots of very fine pitting w/ wear turning gray. Balance of metal turning gray & patina w/ wear & handling marks. Grip has fine cracks at bottom w/ wear & staining. Scabbard has wear, scuffing & handling marks throughout. 6) Model 1939 bayonet. 7-1/8" Fullered blade marked on left Ricasso "O.Y. VELJEKSET KULMALA A.B." Right Ricasso is marked "SK.Y". Crossguard w/ muzzle ring & forward swept quillion. Crossguard marked on right side w/ "S". Bird's head pommel. Smooth hardwood grip. Metal tipped leather scabbard marked "SK.Y" w/ retaining strap. CONDITION: metal turning gray w/ wear, handling marks & spots of shallow oxidation. One piece grip has crack at bottom & wear, staining & handling marks. Leather scabbard has wear, flexing, scuffing & sm. hole at bottom rivet. 7) Model 1927. 11-3/4" fullered blade. Marked on left Ricasso "FISKARS". Forward curved quillion. Bird's head pommel. Smooth hardwood grips. Ribbed steel scabbard. CONDITION: bright metal has wear, discoloration & scattered spots of oxidation & fine pitting. Grips have wear & staining. Scabbard retains lg. percent of original blue w/ scattered spots of oxidation. 8) Model 1927. 11-3/4" Fullered blade. Marked "FISKARS" on left Ricasso. Forward swept quillion. Bird's head pommel. Smooth hardwood grips. Smooth blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: metal has worn appearance w/ scattered sm. spots of oxidation. Loose crossguard was repaired by spot welding at lower edge of Ricasso. Weld has failed, leaving crossguard loose. Grips have moderate wear & handling marks. Scabbard has 80% blue w/ light peppery oxidation. 9) Model 1927. 11-7/8" Fullered blade. Marked on left Ricasso "HACKMAN & CO." Forward swept quillion. Bird's head pommel. Smooth hardwood grips. Ribbed blued steel scabbard. CONDITION. metal has wear turning gray & patina. Grips show moderate wear & staining. Scabbard has approx. 75% thinning worn original finish. 10) Model 1891. 17" quadrangular blade socket bayonet. Blued steel blade has screwdriver tip & Russian mfg. marks & faint boxed "SA" on right side of socket. Scarce unmarked Finnish brown leather finish scabbard. CONDITION: Bayonet has 75% arsenal rework blue finish w/ light wear. Scabbard has light wear & flexing but stitching is tight. (02-16388/RW) $400-800.
