SHOTGUN. S# 14900. Bbls. 29 3/4" w/ 2 3/4" chambers. Made in 1947. A very interesting gun made by Aguirre & Aranzabal which looks exactly like a Merkel scallop actioned boxlock. Made w/ point pattern three piece recheckered forearm w/ engraved Deeley latch release. The Demi-Block bbls. w/ proof marks on bottom & sling swivel towards midpoint. The reinforced dbl. underbite lug action w/ crossbolt locking mechanism. Case hardened scalloped boxlock action is lightly scroll engraved & about 70% coverage. Top lever is blued & scroll engraved & top tang w/ light scroll, w/ "S" engraved in front of safety button. Buttstock w/ teardrops carved behind action is checkered in point pattern through the wrist w/ sling swivel near toe, comb modified for trap dimensions w/ sm. Monte Carlo & terminates w/ an aging red waffle pad. Long tang trigger guard w/ sm. rolled edge is lightly scroll engraved on bow & tang w/ SN at center. Bbls. retain more than 95% of an older restored finish w/ an area or two of cold blue touchup towards the muzzle. Receiver retains perhaps as much as 40% original case color. There are a couple of replaced action screws on the right side which are not engraved to match. Forend is mostly sound w/ a beginning grain separation at muzzle end & retains most of an older restored finish never having been sanded or taken down in any way. Buttstock w/ new comb as noted above retains most of an older custom finish w/ subsequent handling marks & minor impressions. Pad is starting to crystallize. Bores are mostly bright & shiny. Mechanics are fine. (22-1128/JSL). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
