VERY NICE WINCHESTER MODEL 94 BUFFALO BILL
COMMEMORATIVE RIFLE. Cal. .30-30 W.C.F. S# WC43233. Bbl 26". Model 94 Buffalo Bill commemorative rifle manufactured by Winchester in 1968 to secure funding for the Cody Firearms (as an extension to the Whitney Art Museum). The left side of the barrel bears the Winchester trademark logo followed by "30-30", with "Buffalo Bill Commemorative" on the right. The sides of the receiver feature light line pattern engraving, with "Buffalo Bill" engraved on the left. Receiver tang is marked "W.F. Cody Chief of Scouts". Major metal components are blued, with the trigger, hammer, buttplate, and forend cap exhibiting a nickel plated finish. Smooth wood furniture, with the buttstock featuring an inlaid "COLONEL WILLIAM F. "BUFFALO BILL" CODY" medallion on the right side. Nickel bead front sight with U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: near excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory applied finishes, exhibiting few minor marks overall from handling and storage. Nickel plated components exhibit some discoloration, but are otherwise fine. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows a few scattered dings and handling marks, but is otherwise very good. (23-2307/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
