VIETNAMESE CHOPPING KNIFE BROUGHT BACK BY
USAF MAJOR CHARLES SNYDER. Crudely made short chopping knife produced in Vietnam. Right side of blade exhibits Vietnamese characters, with the left side being marked "17". 1 piece smooth wood handle retains the blade via 2 pins on the left side and a single ring at the "neck" of the blade. Unmarked leather wrapped wood scabbard. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: signed letter from United States Air Force Major Charles Snyder indicating that he acquired this knife via a trade with a 5th Special Forces Captain at Nha Trang SVN in 1965 while assigned to HQ Military Advisory Command Vietnam (MACV). CONDITION: blade exhibits oxidation and age related discoloration overall, with several nicks to the blade face. Wood grip shows some marks from handling and storage, and is slightly loose, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Leather wrapped wood scabbard exhibits age related cracking.
