Very Rare Winchester Model 1894 "Trapper" Saddle-Ring Carbine, #789574, .30 W.C.F. (.30-30) cal., 15" round barrel, tall pinned blade front sight and ladder rear, marked with maker's name, address and 1894 patent date ahead of band, "Nickel Steel Barrel/Especially for Smokeless Powder" and caliber at breech; receiver has standard features and markings, saddle ring at left. Oil-finished walnut stocks, carbine buttplate. Mfg'd 1915. Condition is good retaining traces of barrel blue, 15% receiver blue, else smooth gray gunmetal with fine edges and markings. Stocks are sound and smooth having been sanded with finish added. Action is crisp, bore is bright with moderate frosting and sharp rifling. A rare and desirable Trapper carbine.
