WALTHER PRE-WAR 22 LR GOLD PLATED, ENGRAVED &

CASED MODEL PPK SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. S# 175525K. Bbl. 3 3/8" with blued finish. Mfg. late 1938 or early 1939 with crown N proofs on right side of barrel and on frame at ejection port. Uncommon in 22 LR and especially so with gold plating and engraving. Blued hammer, trigger, safety, lanyard loop at butt, grip screw and extractor. Internal components out of view, are a mixture of in the white and blued. Matching internally scratch numbered slide. Mottled brown Walther banner checkered plastic grip. Typical German oak leaf engraving leaving portion of frame at port unengraved. Also present within the oak leaves are scrolls and a cross hatch pattern underneath top rear of frame. Standard company markings are present in separate panels to include Walther banner. MAGS: 2 very good unmarked 10 rd. having very light function rub marks and without follower buttons; matching brown plastic finger extension base and blued flat base. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: very good to excellent royal blue leatherette covered case having nickel plated thumb latch. Maroon interior with padded satin under lid and PP outlined (includes magazine) velvet in base surrounded by decorative cord. CONDITION: very good to excellent overall appearance. Slight thinning of gold finish appearing at high points of slide plus upper mid portion of left side and upper portion of right side forward of port. Very light thinning of finish on extractor plus faint rub mark on left side of trigger from functioning. With slide removed there is slight plating loss on frame due to cycling; barrel appears fully blued with near excellent bore plus unfired appearance to breach face. Near excellent grips without typical top separation; very slight separation at bottom (about business card thickness). Very fine pistol likely as a gift to someone significant; perhaps a high ranking German officer. (22-5480/NW). CURIO. $5,000-7,000.
