SIDELOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER PIGEON GUN W/ CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 1945. Built on a Beesley style self opening action, this high end gun has 29 1/2" chopperlump bbls. fitted w/ raised matted flat pigeon rib. "Joseph Defourny" is gold inlaid on top of right bbl. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Belgian black powder proofs & engraved w/ maker's name & address. Bottoms of bbls. are engraved w/ Whitworth steel info & stamped w/ sheaf of wheat trademarks. Serial number is stamped on reinforced splinter. Coin finished Beesley type self opening sidelock action is stamped w/ serial number, proofs & maker's name & patent info. Action is stocked to the fences & features blocked out safety, Purdey type 3rd fastener, bushed striker's, sideclips, reinforced frame, & single nonselective trigger. Action & lockplates are engraved w/ near full coverage traditional British style rose & scroll. Fences are semi relief engraved w/ very attractive full coverage flower blossoms & acanthus. Newly made, target type, extreme pistol grip buttstock of wonderfully figured & lightly marbled European walnut measures 15" over thin black Italian pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip w/ right hand palm swell. Matching, tapered beavertail, ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .724", L .726". Restriction: R .025" (MOD), L .035" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .030", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 1 5/8"+. DAC: 1 3/16"+. LOP: 15". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 8 lb. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: German style tan leather case w/ brass plated corners is lined in scarlet felt. CONDITION: very good as completely refurbished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a best reblack. Engraving somewhat softened. Action is cleaned to coin finish. Engraving also a bit soft. Newly made stocks retain essentially all of their hand rubbed oil finish w/ a few light scratches. Bores are very good to fine, mostly shiny w/ some frosting, mostly in right bbl. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong & slightly out of time. Trigger appears to work well. Forend latch is a bit sticky. Case is good to fine, interior cloth w/ soiling. (22-1176/MGM). CURIO. $4,000-8,000.
