Cal. 20 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 230683. Bbls. 30", have Parker address & "ACME STEEL" on standard concave matted rib fitted w/ 2 ivory beads. Bbl. flats stamped w/ all correct markings including Parker proof marks, rear lump w/ "20" & frame size "0". Remington date code 0H3 (July 1939) is on left flat.. Case hardened action features automatic safety & Parker single selective trigger. Action engraved in usual CH style w/ varying size scroll w/ in geometric borders surrounding scenes of single dogs on sides in various backgrounds. An alert pointer on left side, a pointing setter on right.. "PARKER BROS" is in rectangle at rear of each scene. Trigger plate engraved w/ duck rising from marsh. Trigger guard w/ scroll on bow has S# on tang. Newly made straight grip buttstock of very nicely marbled, flesh toned European walnut measures 14 1/4" over skeleton steel buttplate. Stock features "C" style drop points & relatively fancy checkering pattern at grip & a lg. silver oval on toeline. Checkering on butt does not have borders. Matching splinter ejector forend has patent date on iron. This S# range is not listed in the identification ledger. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: Bore diameter: r .615", l .615", Restriction: R. .021" (MOD), L. .021" (MOD), Min. Wall Thickness: R. .030", L. .024". STOCK: LOP: 14 1/4". DAC: 1 1/2". DAH: 2 9/16". Cast: 1/4 off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 10 oz. CONDITION: very fine as completely restored. Retaining nearly all custom finishes on wood & metal w/ a few scuffs & marks. Remington repair proof may indicate new set of bbls. fitted in 1939 as rib extension is below top of action. Both buttstock & forend are relatively new. Gun appears to have originally been pistol grip, trigger guard has been lengthened. Very fine bright shiny bores w/ no evidence of dent removal. Mechanically fine. A rare gun, "The Parker Story" indicates that only 21 were made in this grade & gauge w/ very desirable 30" bbls. (21-1604/MGM). CURIO. $6,000-9,000.
