WINCHESTER MODEL 12 PUMP SHOTGUN. Cal. 28 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 1677007. Custom 28 ga. gun using correct mag. tube, carrier & "28" stamped cartridge cutoff. Exquisite full coverage engraving centers around 3 color gold & silver inlaid western scenes. Right side scene depicts a camp scene w/ a cook swinging a shovel at an out of control fire. At center is a cowboy on a bucking bronc w/ a third cowboy falling over his gear on the right side. Left frontier town scene shows a wild west shootout w/ mounted cowboys & chair wielding marshall. Scenes are surrounded by gold wire inlay w/ leaf highlights. Additional gold wire inlay borders upper & lower receiver surfaces. Sides, top & bottom areas of receiver have a fine foliate scroll engraving w/ punch dot background. Lower receiver edges have wide repetitive geometric borders. Trigger guard bow has silver & gold steer head w/ gold wire highlights. Bbl. extension, mag. band, mag. cap along w/ breech & muzzle ends of bbl. have matching foliate scroll engraving w/ gold border & highlights. S#'s are inlaid in gold. Engraver's signature "G.M. Cargnel" is found on bottom of frame forward of the loading port. Gino Cargnel was a Belgian trained Master Engraver for Fabrique Nationale. Gino later moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked as an independent engraver of quality firearms. Bbl. 26" w/ rnd. post vent rib. "SKEET" choke marking. Red target front sight w/ white mid bead. Jeweled bolt & carrier. Full beavertail forearm & pistol grip Monte Carlo stock of exhibition claro walnut w/ fiddle & burl figure having luxurious red, brown & dark tones. Rosewood grip cap has brass diamond marked "J.L. Dockwiller". Jack Lee Dockwiller (Jan. 1925-Feb. 2018) of Redlands, CA was a renowned custom stock maker. This wood features his impressive borderless segmented fleur de lis style hand checkering. DAC: 1 5/8". DAMC: 1 1/2". DAH: 2 1/4". This shotgun was mfg. in 1958. CONDITION: over 97% finely polished custom blue showing light slide wear. Gloss wood finish shows scattered scratches & sm. dents w/ sm. chip out of grip cap edge. Sound action. Bright bore shows a sm. amount of plastic fouling. (22-2303/DS). CURIO. $12,000-17,000.
