Bbl. flats stamped w/ London nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Blued boxlock screw grip action features non automatic safety (SAFE on gold rectangle) & features third fastener engaging dolls head rib extension, bushed strikers & dbl. triggers. Action engraved w/ 60% coverage very nicely cut scroll. "William Evans" "From Purdey's" "London" in arched device on each side. "PATENT" on top lever. Trigger guard w/ matching scroll has S# on tang. Nicely marbled & lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/8" over black white line pad. Drop points are behind side panels. Point pattern checkering is at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameters: left - .727, restriction: .020 (mod), left - .726, restriction: .007 (IC). Minimum wall thickness: left - .023, right - .023. DAH: 2 3/8". DAC: 1 1/2". Cast about 1/4" off. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: vintage leather case w/ brass corners embossed "T. G." on top. Lined in burgundy cloth & has black leather gold embossed Evans label in lid. Contains a pair of Evans marked snap caps, tin oil bottle, 2 piece brass & rosewood cleaning rod. CONDITION: good as refinished. Bbls. retain nearly all of an old reblack. Action also reblacked & has high edge wear. Stock has nearly all of an old oil refinish. Checkering recut. There is an open crack (old repair) at front of wrist from hand pin to rear of trigger guard bow which does not flex. Bright shiny bores. Action slightly loose. Right bbl. a bit off face. Ejectors are strong & in time. Case leather has numerous rubs, stains & some tape marks. Newer straps are good. Old handle has newer bases, one partially detached. Accessories are good. Label is good w/ some chips. (01-17482/MGM65). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
