GAME SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 11686. Bbls. 30" dovetailed are engraved “William Powell, 35, Cars Lane, Birmingham” on narrow swamped rib w/ doll’s head extension. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Case hardened boxlock action is nicely filed & features automatic safety (“SAFE” on gold rectangle), pivoting 3rd fastener & dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ 60% coverage very nicely cut varying size & scroll. “William Powell & Son” is on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate & trigger guard are engraved w/ matching scroll, S# is on trigger guard tang. Lightly marbled straight grip buttstock measures 14 7/8" over black “White-line” pad. Stock features drop points, flat top point pattern checkering at grip & a sling loop on toeline. Right side of stock is branded w/ cartouche of far eastern letters. Matching splinter "Southgate" ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: Bore diameter: R .729 L .729. Restriction: R .006 (IC) L .020 (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .028 L .028. STOCK: LOP: 14 7/8". DAC: 1 3/8". DAH: 2 3/16". Cast: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 12 oz. CONDITION: good to very good, missing parts. Bbl. retaining over 90% of an old reblack over some light marks & w/ some subsequent scratches. Action retains traces of case hardening color where protected. Top lever & floorplate retain most of their original blue, trigger guard w/ some original blue has added cold blue. Stocks retain 40-50% original finish, checkering somewhat worn. Sling loops are poorly done later additions, pad relatively new. Steel forend tip & screw missing. Bores are very good to fine w/ some light pitting. Action is a bit loose, bbls. slightly off face.
