Cal. 44 HCF. S# 153667. Bbl. 20" rnd. carbine style w/ mag. blade front sight & folding leaf rear sight. Full length mag. Band fastened walnut forearm & straight grip replacement stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. 1880. CONDITION: bbl., mag. tube & iron fittings have a mottled gray coloration showing cleaning w/ scattered pitting & handling marks. Brass action shows wear, heavy cleaning w/ scattered scratches, dents & handling marks. Sanded & undersized forearm shows chips along bbl. channel w/ lg. cracks extending from action & tip. Sides have rings from removed brass tacks. Stock is heavily sanded w/ evidence of tack points remaining in left side. Repaired chips are found on both sides of top tang. Worn action. Lever hangs loose when not latch. Some screws appear to be replacement. Dark pitted bore retaining worn rifling. PROVENANCE: from the estate collections of Charles P. Obremski. (01-20844/DS).
