Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). S# 258120B. Bbl. 20" round carbine style. German silver pinned blade front sight w/ carbine leaf rear sight. Full length mag. Action has staple fastened saddle ring on left side. Replacement band fastened carbine forearm & straight grip stock w/ steel carbine trapdoor buttplate. Blue finish w/ case colored lever, trigger & buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Cody Firearms Museum detailing the following information, "Type: Carbine / Caliber: 44 / Received in warehouse on April 27, 1888 / Shipped from warehouse on September 20, 1888, order number 12190". Also includes an original 3 piece cleaning rod held in stock compartment. CONDITION: beautifully restored carbine. Bbl. & action retain 99% blue showing faint edge wear on high points w/ small handling marks on bbl. Lever & hammer retain beautiful restored case colors. Buttplate case coloring has a dark appearance w/ small spots of wear. Brass buttplate trapdoor has a dark patina. Carrier shows a very light patina appearance. Some markings are recut. Stocks have very good open grain finish. Crisp action. Very good bright bore. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (01-25247/DS). ANTIQUE. $6,000-10,000.
