RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. S# 2252. Bbl. 30" oct. measuring 7/8" across flats at muzzle. Wind gauge front sight, filler in rear dovetail w/ mid range Vernier tang sight. Plain trigger, (record check states "set"). Case colored action. Ebony tipped schnabel tipped forearm of fancy walnut w/ style H hand checkering. Hard rubber capped pistol grip stock w/ shadow line cheekpiece, style H checkering & nickel finished brass Schuetzen buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is marked w/ assembly no. "1039" followed by "1", wood grade marking "XX" & "SBC". Mfg. 1886. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Records Check stating the following: "Type:/ Rifle / Caliber: 32-40 / Barrel Type: Octagon / Barrel Weight: 3 / Barrel Length: 30 inches / Trigger: Set / Checkered Stock, Pistol Grip / Swiss butt plate / Received in warehouse on April 22, 1886 / Shipped from warehouse on May 04, 1886, Order number 5982 / Repair and Return on February 22, 1901, Order number 63135." CONDITION: bbl. has over 98% soft original appearing reblued finish. Action shows over 97% vivid restored case colors showing slight edge wear. Wood has original finish showing scratches & marks, areas of wear w/ spots of lifting finish on lower portions of stock. Stock has hairline cracks extending from both sides of receiver. Sound mechanics. Bore has a slightly darkened appearance w/ worn rifling showing spots of light pitting. (01-21198/DS). ANTIQUE. $8,000-10,000.
