RIFLE W/ BAYONET. Cal. 6 mm LN. S# 7118. Bbl. 28". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000 yds. Blade front sight. Straight pull action marked on left side of receiver "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 10, 93 JAN. 30. 94, OCT. 8. 95". Receiver ring is marked on top w/ "U.S.N.- anchor" "No. 7118" "NCT" which is partly obscured due to fine pitting. Bolt is preproduction configuration & does not have the gas shield, however the gas escape hole in the top of the bolt is later round style. Receiver is from the first contract as it is inspected by Nathan Twining & does not have the screw on the left wall. Upper band has bayonet lug & stacking swivel. Walnut stock set. Butt has sliding trap. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 81/8" fullered blade bayonet marked on right ricasso w/ "T" in triangle. Smooth walnut grips, metal is finished bright. Metal has been cleaned leaving very light oxidation, scattered fine pitting & staining. Grips have very light wear. CONDITION: stock has original finish w/ light wear, scratches & staining. Notable splotch of white paint on right forward end of forearm. Buttstock has large open crack extending from rear of trigger guard under grip upward toward heel. Crack is approx. 9" long. 2 Open cracks on forward end of hand guard beyond bbl. band. Worn metal has been cleaned, turning overall gray in patina w/ extensive fine pitting on receiver & trigger guard. Bolt has small file marks at rear. Dark bore w/ heavily worn lands.
