CARBINE. Cal. 44 WCF. S# 368557. Bbl. 20". Model 1892 lever action saddle ring carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1906. Top of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information, with the cal. designation marked towards the breech. Upper receiver tang is marked "MODEL 1892/ -WINCHESTER-/ TRADE MARK". Metal components exhibit a dull reapplied blue finish overall. Sanded and refinished single band fastened plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with carbine buttplate. Ground down apparent German silver blade front sight with flip-up V-notch ladder rear sight. Left side of the receiver features a saddle ring staple and ring. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to brown patina, with scattered spots of pitting present beneath the finish. Bore is bright, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of mild pitting, while retaining good, albeit worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with the forearm exhibiting 3 large gouges on the right side.
