This fascinating lot consists of 1 powder keg measuring 10 1/2" x 8” w/ 5 twig hoops at the top & bottom. There is a rnd. partial label that reads in part, “KENTUCKY RIFLE GUN POWDER HAZARD POWDER CO”. / 1 Powder keg measuring 8 3/8” x 6 1/2” w/ 4 twig hoops at top & bottom. There is a rnd. partial label approx. 15% intact. / 1 Sm. powder keg measuring 6” x 4 3/4" w/ 4 brass hoops & a label that in part reads, “HAZARD KENTUCKY GUN POWDER”. / 1 Carved & red painted canteen measuring 3 5/8” x 4 5/8”. Handcarved ends w/ a turned body & stopper. Red paint appears original. / 1 Cheese box style canteen w/ black paint overall. Commonly called a “US / MS” version, both the “US” & the “MS” are visible under the black paint. Painted inscription on 1 side reads, “1812. CANTEEN”. The center of the reverse is stamped “N.P” & is carved w/ the owner’s initials “MT”. / 1 Red painted ovoid barrel style canteen w/ 4 black painted iron hoofs. Body of canteen has later red paint. Canteen is likely not American & later 19th century. / 1 Wooden egg shaped barrel style canteen w/ 4 iron hoops & remnants of Spanish brown paint. Spout & air hole have the original carved wooden stoppers. / 1 Sm. rundlet measuring 4” x 2 3/4". Hand carved ends w/ turned body. Cork stopper. / 1 Medium rundlet measuring 5 1/2" x 3 1/4". Carved ends & turned body w/ original wooden stopper. / 1 Hand carved wooden cup w/ a visible drying crack. CONDITION: all pieces show moderate wear unless otherwise noted.
