WW1 German DWM 1914 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, dated 1914, #8856a, 9mm, 4" barrel, rust blued finish, straw-finished small parts, all visible numbers matching except magazine, fixed rear sight and drift adjustable inverted "V" front sight, checkered wood grips, Imperial German proof marks on right side of slide, one blued-finish magazine with wood base. No stock lug on this model. Condition is very good, retaining approx. 80% of its original rust blued finish, with scattered spots of minor rust pitting on sides of barrel, frame, slide, and toggle. Wear to the finish and light pitting to the sides of the muzzle and front sight blade. Wear to the edges of the front of frame and sides of trigger guard, sideplate, and high edges of slide. There is some light pitting on the top of the chamber by the date. Gripstraps are strong, with a couple of spots of holster wear near the bottom of the straps and mag well area. Straw parts have a mottled light rust patina, with the trigger and take down lever retaining a good portion of finish. Safety lever has heavier wear, rust spotting, and scratches from cleaning. Grip screws retain some of their fire blued finish in protected areas and clean slots. Bore is clean and shiny with just a hint of frosting near the chamber. Grips are very nice with crisp checkering, minor wear, and flattening to the diamonds near the bottom. Magazine appears to be refinished with numerous stamped and engraved markings on the body, kk11, 5 in a circle, 9, and vibro-engraved 4238. Wood base has a small "0" stamped into it. Action, hold open, and safety all function properly. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R/PPT)
