WW1 German DWM 1918 Date P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, with Leather Holster, #1315a, 9mm, 4" barrel, rust blued finish, straw finished small parts, fixed rear sight and drift adjustable inverted "V" front sight, all visible numbers matching except magazine, Imperial German proof marks on right side of slide, checkered walnut grips, and one WWII era blued magazine with aluminum base. Small "K" stamped on bottom of stock lug on backstrap. Dark brown leather holster with unmarked loading tool in pouch under lid, no extra magazine, and large "(crown/III" (this may be a German state mark or foreign power marking). Condition is good retaining approx. 70% of its original rust blued finish, with wear to the high edges on front of frame, trigger guard, mag well area, muzzle, top of slide, front and rear gripstrap. Sideplate has heavy wear to the blued surface with some light pitting. Sides of the barrel at the muzzle have been buggered and smoothed over with a file. Base of the front sight mount and edges of the sight insert have been hammered and deformed. Top of slide has wear to the finish, probably from overzealous cleaning of light rust at one time. Toggle parts still retain most of their blued finish. Straw parts are mostly gray and mottled, with just remnants of the straw finish remaining in protected areas. Bore shows light frosting, with strong lands and grooves. Action, hold open, and safety all work properly. Grips are very nice showing only light age and use with crisp checkering, but could be high quality replacements. Grip screws are mostly brown in color and have lightly turned slots. Magazine is a WWII era piece, marked 122, eagle37, and number 8960a, showing wear to the blued finish, a few small dings, and minor rust spots at the bottom; aluminum base has a dark mottled gray appearance from age. Holster shows age, scuffs, scrapes, and wear to the finish. Leather strap for the lid shows age cracking. There are carved letters on the top and sides of the lid with someone's name, and part of that has been lined out with a knife. Stitching has darkened over the years to a light brown color. The pistol removal strap is intact. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R/PPT)
