WW1 U.S. ''Patton'' Cavalry Sword and Scabbard, 1918 dated, with leather sheath for a tent picket pin attached. The 35'' long blade is marked at the ricasso with ''U.S.'', eagle head proofmark, and ''L.F.&C. 1918''. Condition is good overall. Blade shows a uniform light coating of surface rust, but no pitting. Handle has coarse checkered hard rubber grip panels, a steel pommel, and checkered backstrap with thumb notch. Steel handguard shows age and a few scuffs and scratches. There are two tiny holes drilled into the edge of the guard. Scabbard is covered in heavy woven canvas that is in good condition with the usual light scuffs and scratches. Metal fittings at the top and bottom of the scabbard have some scratches and scuffs as well. There is a leather sheath for a picket pin strapped to the upper part of the scabbard. Est.: $500-$800.
